Ear Ecstasy
I am so in love with this. If you listen to the words it is obvious why. I encourage you to learn about Playing for Change by going here. I watched a show about this amazing project last night on PBS and I can't do it justice with a pithy blog post.
Happy weekend possums!

Wow
I just love this. Of course I have a soft spot for anything related to Atlantic Canada.

Snippets of my Weekend.
I had a bizzy weekend and today, Monday, should be exciting too. This morning I am going to a talk at Google about health services being offered through cloud computing. I know sounds geeky, but what can I say - I am a geek.
I already told you about the events of Friday night. Here are a few snippets from the rest of my weekend.
I indulged in Pinkberry frozen yogurt - coconut and pomengranate flavors.
I heard "Take On Me" in the car and was transported back to high school - briefly. Remember those Norwegian hotties? They are still making music!
I took note of a trend - Eyebrow Bars - these are popping up everywhere! Eyebrow shaping has been around forever - but now it seems to be going commercial. I saw this one at the mall. Believe it or not, I have been having my brows groomed since I was 17. Guess I was ahead of the trend.

Here you can see my adult side - getting my antioxidants from strawberries.
Here my child like side - that is Captain Crunch!

The Rain
When I went to bed last night I was trying not think about the type of day I knew I would have today. I knew it was going to be one of those all meetings, little downtime and lots of pressure kind of days.
I woke up at about 5:30 to the rain. It’s a surprising sound during a California summer. Winter in Norcal is rainy and coolish from mid-December until the end of February. If it rains here in August traffic creeps to a halt, people panic and we complain about the layer of dust on our windshields turning into a mucky film.
Me, I liked it. I snuggled down. The soft drips lulled me back to sleep for an hour.
I like everything about rainy, wet weather. I like that it keeps my skin soft and supple. I like seeing the fog creep over the hills. I like the cool, clean air. I like the memories evoked by the touch of cold humidity.
I listened to Melody Gardot on my way to work – funny because she sang about the rain.

It did turn out to be one of those days but the rain helped wash some of the day away.

Earplugs are Optional

I’m a girl. That pretty much means any guy who plays guitar peaks my interest. :-P
So you can imagine how excited I am about “It Might Get Loud” a movie about the personal stories of The Edge (U2), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), and Jack White (The White Stripes). In the first few seconds of the trailer you see Jack outdoors with a stack of amplifiers and he is jury-rigging a guitar together out of a coke bottle, wires and what looks like an old fence post. The sound kicks ass and Jack’s a weird magnet – sucking you like a thumbtack into the screeching noise.
For me, one of the coolest things about this documentary is that we have these three guys from three different generations bound together by something as crude as White’s backyard creation or as over the top as Page’s double necked version. And, I have to say I love all three.
My love for all things rock and roll started courtesy of listening to my older siblings crank up the Zeppelin and other iconic bands. That is probably pretty typical. Also typical, like most of my current generation I regard U2 as my favorite band not just because of great songs but because I believe they are one of the few outliers in our shallow, celebrity laden society who really are trying to influence some greater change. And finally, I like Jack White, for all his eccentricity, he’s a guy I would like to play twenty questions with.
I’ll be first in line when “It Might Get Loud” hits the theatre.

The first post
Today I will go hear someone called "Mira Linda" play in a park in Los Gatos with some friends.
Mira Linda is a "girl with a guitar and something to say" so it sounds like a perfect Sunday outing to me. I will report back on what Mira has to say.
Today the thing I cannot live without is my set of 1000 threadcount sheets.
