Of Course My Horse

I like CB2 because they are hip and cool.  They describe themselves as a “modern destination from Crate and Barrel” and as “affordable modern” for apartments and lofts.  Perfect for a gal such as myself.

I like this pillow because one of my favourite sayings – which I learned from a cheesy horror film – is: Of course my horse!  I also really like that this pillow was created by someone from Creatively Explored – a nonprofit visual arts center for artists with developmental disabilities.   A percentage of the CB2 sales goes to Creatively Explored.

Hip, cool and doing something good all wrapped in one cute pillow.   Do I love it? Of course my horse!

All Dressed Up

For those of you who saw my apartment after W redecorated you may have seen my wrought iron dress form. Anyway, I was leaving the Milk Pail, juggling produce and bread – but no milk – and I saw these cute little dress forms through the window of Ross – a chain of discount stores I don’t normally frequent. I went in and for $7.99 a piece, I decided that these little guys would bring a little of the theme from my living room into my bedroom. These beauties are about two feet high and are sitting on top of my armoire. Of course it's an iPhone photo.

Christmas Traditions

Every year in early December I start making lists for two things – holiday baking and decorating.

I like to give my work teammates some goodies that I actually put a lot of work and effort into baking. It makes me feel good and it’s really a small but meaningful gesture. I usually pick three or four different recipes and give them each roughly a dozen cookies made up of the different varieties. This year I have planned a homemade graham sandwich cookie, pecan pralines and a thin chocolate mint cookie. These should be yummy. I channel my inner Martha and put together some lovely packaging. I will take some pictures during the baking – I promise! Love how she packages her sweet bites:

Decorating is something I will have to forgo this year since I will be in Canada for the holidays. I may have to break down and get a pointsettia. My favorite are the pink varietals – they are so lovely!

Ciao babes.  More later!

Cleanliness not Sneeziness

You are going to think I am crazy but I love cleaners. But I find most of them are either too harsh or really heavily scented. I have some allergies so finding the right cleaner can be a problem. When I walk down the cleaning aisle at Target my eyes start to water, my nose starts to itch and I have to make a beeline for accessories so as not to incite a sneezing fit.

So, I have become a fan of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products – the scents are pretty light which is good for my nose. The products are environmentally friendly, biodegradable and use naturally derived ingredients whenever possible. All of the stuff is cruelty free – meaning no animal testing. What could possibly make you feel better while you are cleaning up the spills from dinner?

I also like that there is actually a real Mrs. Meyers and I really love the counter spray.

They also sell this little starter kit of four favorites. Great for a housewarming gift!
