Every year the entire nation of Canada celebrates my mom’s birthday with a long weekend around May 24th. It’s purely coincidence that this was Queen Victoria’s birthday and they started recognizing it almost 100 years before my maman’s birth. The British celebrate the reigning monarch's birthday on this day every year.
I say my mother is the queen of my personal commonwealth. We should all make a big deal over our mothers – whether or not they share a birthday with a reigning monarch! Here’s to you Mom!
