This Week's Recommended Reading

Dear England, you have done it again. By “it” I mean you have provided us with some cuttingly witty, brilliant entertainment. Currently I am reading Beautiful People by Simon Doonan. I am a hundred pages in and I am pretty sure this will be one quick, happy read. Mr. Doonan is the creative director for Barney’s New York, writes a column for The New York Observer and makes numerous TV appearances on everything from Martha Stewart to VH1. If you have been to Barney’s you already know that he has edgy yet impeccable taste.

Beautiful People so far is bitchy, touching and deals with how to be fabulous —plus Doonan’s writing is gorgeous. In other words it's my kind of book.  If you want to get a taste of some of Doonan's writing go to his random scribblings page.  I love his advice on how to tie a Hermes Scarf!

Beautiful People has been adapted for TV and airs on BBC Two in the UK. I think I will need to figure out how to get the DVDs!
