It was a long, harsh day. So, on the way home I decided to get Chinese food. There is a neighborhood place where they kind of know me. I get single girl food. Brown rice, chicken with broccoli etc…

They ALWAYS give me four fortune cookies.

Somewhere in those six sentences is a Sex and the City episode.

I won’t even eat a single fortune cookie. Not ever. But, I do love the fortunes. Some of my friends insist the fortune will not come true unless you eat the cookie. I say, damn the carbs! Fortune does not require you to consume cookies!

Here were my fortunes today:

• Rely on long time friends to give you advice
• Listen the next few days to your friends to get answers you seek
• You would be wise not to seek too much from others, at this time
• Within the week you will receive an unexpected gift

When I made the decision pursue a new career path/education I got a special fortune. My fortune said, “You can achieve anything you put your mind to.” I carried that little slip of paper around with me for more than ten years. I think it worked.
